Christine Hudak, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, has been accepted as a contributing author to the book (tentatively) titled The Handbook of Continuing Professional Development for the Health IT Professional, to be published by HIMSS in 2017. Her chapter, “The Many Facets of Continuing Education,” will appear in the section on “The Importance of Lifelong Learning.”

The 鶹ý Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve international reaccreditation. Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. (CALEA), the program requires agencies to meet state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.
鶹ý at Tuscarawas has been officially accepted into the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). The announcement was made at the USCAA national convention in Richmond, Virginia. The application for USCAA membership was submitted in March.

Angela Anikienko, a 鶹ý junior nursing student from LaGrange, Ohio, completed the United States Institute for Kangaroo Care’s® certification course at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital in June. Anikienko, who received a sponsorship from the institute to attend the course, was one of only three Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students in the nation to earn the certification.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed 鶹ý in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
