Christine Hudak, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, has been accepted as a contributing author to the book (tentatively) titled The Handbook of Continuing Professional Development for the Health IT Professional, to be published by HIMSS in 2017. Her chapter, “The Many Facets of Continuing Education,” will appear in the section on “The Importance of Lifelong Learning.”

鶹ý President Beverly Warren recently presented eight Kent State employees with the President’s Excellence Award. Warren made surprise visits to each recipient’s office with a hearty congratulations and a check for $1,000.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has announced the selection of 鶹ý coach and cancer survivor Danielle O'Banion as the winner of the Pat Summitt Most Courageous Award for women's basketball.

Nikki, the Top Hawk Cessna aircraft, was recently revealed at the 鶹ý Airport. The aircraft is named in celebration of the life of Nicole “Nikki” Kukwa, a Kent State aeronautics student who died after receiving a leukemia diagnosis during her junior year.
I have a HealthRider Softstrider treadmill that I am not using enough. It works fine. The treadmill was passed on to me so I am interested in passing it on to someone who will use it, for free. As part of the RecycleMania competition, 鶹ý’s Division of Human Resources will partner with the Office of Sustainability to host Shred-Mania on Wednesday, March 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kent State Ice Arena parking lot.

The 鶹ý Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed 鶹ý in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
