Christine Hudak, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, has been accepted as a contributing author to the book (tentatively) titled The Handbook of Continuing Professional Development for the Health IT Professional, to be published by HIMSS in 2017. Her chapter, “The Many Facets of Continuing Education,” will appear in the section on “The Importance of Lifelong Learning.”

Since the holiday season calls for delicious and indulgent foods like pumpkin pie, candied yams, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, not surprisingly a person consumes an average of 3,000 calories at Thanksgiving dinner – 1,000 over the recommended daily intake, according to Spoon University.
The average person gains six to 10 pounds over the holiday season, says Tanya Falcone, registered dietitian and nutritional outreach coordinator at 鶹ý. This can lead to significant weight gain over the years that does not shed, even after the New Year.

The Peace Basket Project gears up for its 21st year. The Professional Women of 鶹ý started the Peace Basket Project in 1997, when a group of members created baskets of “little things” to share with the residents served by the King Kennedy Center. While the Professional Women of 鶹ý is no longer active, this annual event continues with the support of members of the Kent State community.
