Coming to �鶹��ý as a transfer student from a local community college in her hometown of Toledo, Laurel Johnson, ’17, wanted to get involved and become an integrated member of the �鶹��ý community.

Drawn to Kent State by the communication studies program, Ms. Johnson wanted to further her education and earn a bachelor’s degree after receiving her associate degree. She transferred to Kent State in 2015 for her junior year.

Now in its second year, the annual Kent State of Accessibility event once again promises to engage attendees with unique perspectives to result in a better understanding of experiences of individuals with disabilities in a more inclusive �鶹��ý environment. 

The �鶹��ý Alumni Association has chosen 10 finalists from a pool of more than 200 nominees for the 52nd annual Kent State Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award.

The Performing Arts Center at �鶹��ý at Tuscarawas adds holiday favorites to its packed 2018 lineup of performances. Upcoming shows include Elf the Musical on Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. as well as the Tuscarawas Dance Arts Center’s presentation of The Nutcracker, running Dec. 6-9.

�鶹��ý generates a large portion of the power used on the Kent Campus and at times can supply all the power requirements for the campus. In order to test the operation and integrity of the power generation, control and distribution systems, a test of the turbines will be performed on Monday, Nov. 12, when the university will be closed in observance of Veterans Day.

�鶹��ý views student feedback on courses and instructors as pivotal for designing courses and curriculum. In an effort to ensure the quality of academic programs, teaching and the learning experience of students, course instructors are asked to encourage their students to take the Flash Survey, the end-of-course student survey at Kent State for online and hybrid courses.

Mietek Jaroniec, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of �鶹��ý’s College of Arts and Sciences, was appointed to the editorial board of the journal Science Advances.

The celebration of 100 years of Homecoming at Kent State was “ruled” by 2018 Homecoming Queen Jennifer Uren and Homecoming King Jordan Euell.

The Vindys, with specials guests The Speedbumps and Party of 2, will take over Packard Music Hall this Sweetest Day, Saturday, Oct. 20, for a concert to benefit Rock4Reason and Flash's Food Pantry at Kent State Trumbull.

�鶹��ý and Eastern Gateway Community College (EGCC) have formed a strategic partnership that will create new access to courses and degrees for thousands of students living and learning on Ohio’s eastern border.
