Lala Hajibayova, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, received a fellowship (about $2,000) from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Consortium for the Science of Sociotechnical Systems (CSST), to attend the Summer Research Institute for the Science of Socio-Technical Systems, June 27–July 1, 2016, in Stevenson, Washington.

Candidates for Kent State Columbiana County Campuses Dean and Chief Administrative Officer Announced
鶹ý has announced that three candidates for dean and chief administrative officer of 鶹ý's Columbiana County Campuses (鶹ý at East Liverpool and 鶹ý at Salem) will be on campus over the next several weeks. Each candidate will hold a public presentation to discuss the following:
For the third consecutive year, 鶹ý was tops among nine Mid-American Conference (MAC) institutions with eight student-athletes on the 2017 Academic All-MAC Wrestling Team.
Redshirt juniors Stephen Suglio, of Richfield, Ohio, and Chance Driscoll, Aurora, Ohio, were among just five conference wrestlers to earn the honor for a third time. The Golden Flashes are also the only team with a pair of three-time recipients.
On the weekend of March 11 and 12, the 鶹ý Thai Ensemble traveled to Los Angeles to participate in a conference to highlight the restoration of the UCLA Thai music instrument collection donated in the 1960s by David Morton.
The 鶹ý Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed 鶹ý in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
