Lala Hajibayova, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, received a fellowship (about $2,000) from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Consortium for the Science of Sociotechnical Systems (CSST), to attend the Summer Research Institute for the Science of Socio-Technical Systems, June 27–July 1, 2016, in Stevenson, Washington.

Kenneth Cushner, Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies, received a Senior Fulbright Specialist Award to the University of Gdansk, Poland, to address multicultural education of incoming refugees.

A Discussion of Use Cases and Barriers of Using the Knowledge Organization Systems (KOS) Available as Linked Open Data (LOD),” at the 78th annual meeting of the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T).

Beginning April 4, 鶹ý will participate in the On the Move Challenge, a new 12-week, national corporate competition. Bradley A. Bielski, Ph.D., dean and chief administrative officer of 鶹ý at Tuscarawas, is leading an initiative to dramatically expand the athletic programs offered by the campus, as well as reinstituting choir and band as credit courses.
Mark Mistur, AIA, will become the new dean of 鶹ý’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, the only architectural program in Northeast Ohio, effective July 15, 2016. Mistur currently serves as associate dean of the School of Architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.

The 鶹ý Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed 鶹ý in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
