In order to perform necessary maintenance on the boilers, steam transmission systems and electrical distribution systems, 鶹ý's Power Plant on the Kent Campus will be shut down beginning Sunday, May 13, at 12:01 a.m. The shutdown is expected to be completed Sunday, May 20, at 11:59 p.m.
Every day, we all encounter stressors such as traffic, work deadlines and family obligations, to name a few. Sometimes it feels like we can’t get away from stress. In parts I and II of the Stress Management That Works series, we have come to understand stress and its effect on our body. In addition, we have become more familiar with how to recognize when we are feeling stressed and how to decrease our stress number through understanding how we think about problems.
Meditation helps to quiet the mind and release us from worry. For many people, though, the goal of clearing the mind of thoughts seems impossible to attain.
On Saturday, April 14, the Run the World 5K will take place at 鶹ý at Stark. This race is the second part of the Run the World Race Series. Run the World is a global-themed race series designed to support education-abroad scholarships for Kent State students, regardless of their major. In two short years, the Run the World project has been able to award more than $32,000 in student scholarships.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich has appointed Robert S. Frost of Lakewood, Ohio, to the 鶹ý Board of Trustees. Mr. Frost’s appointment runs through May 16, 2026. He fills the seat of former Trustee Stephen Colecchi, whose term expired in 2017.
For 55 years, leaders from 鶹ý and the city of Kent have met over breakfast to foster successful collaboration between the university and the city.
The semiannual Bowman Breakfast, which began in 1963, brings together leaders from Kent State and the city of Kent in a forum designed to advance community issues and strengthen the town-gown relationship.
The topic for this year’s spring Bowman Breakfast is “Town-Gown Relations – Working Together Makes It Work!”
