Annual Conference for Middle Level Education Representatives

Conference Presentation in Columbus

This past month Dr. Robin Dever and adjunct instructor Kathy Baka traveled with three students, Diana White, Leah Larson, and Jackie Elliott, to Columbus, Ohio to participate at the Annual Conference for Middle Level Education.

It was an opportunity for the students to present and experience a conference. Their session was titled, “Using the Past to Teach the Future" which presented on a multi-organization project they were involved with which was funded by the Cleveland Foundation.  This presentation highlighted a multi-disciplinary unit the students created in partnership with the Lake Metroparks and discussed the benefits of having a strong community partnership.

Dr. Dever is no stranger to this annual conference, attending over a dozen times. Anyone working with students ages 10-15 can participate in this three day multifaceted professional development conference.

"By presenting at this conference,” Dr. Dever explained, “鶹ý Geauga students had an amazing opportunity to share with other middle level educators about a project they worked very hard to complete. This conference is attended by thousands of middle level teachers and administrators from across the county.  By sharing this project, it not only gave the students an opportunity to share with others but it also served as a great networking opportunity for them as well.  It is always powerful to be surrounded by so many people who are equally passionate about middle school as you are!  I am very proud of our students and all their hard work they put into this project and presentation!"

鶹ý at Geauga and the Regional Academic Center in Twinsburg staff and faculty are proud to be part of a top-tier research university with quality professors like Dr. Dever who focus on challenging and preparing students to make a difference.
