Allow your group around 45 minutes to explore the Visitors Center, and up to an hour for seeing the National Historic Landmark Site outside. 

Admission is free to the Center. 

If you are interested in donating archival or historical materials about May 4 to Â鶹´«Ã½, please contact the department of Special Collections & Archives where the May 4 Collection is housed at specialcollections@kent.edu.

A trip to the Visitors Center is fully wheelchair accessible. There are 4 accessible parking spots in our lot and no barriers or inclines from the parking lot to the galleries. Building doors have activation buttons. There is an accessible restroom across the hall from the center. All of our outdoor markers and memorials are accessible as well. To see 3 of the 7 outdoor exhibit panels and a few of the 9 wounded markers, there are no stairs, but some hills. We do not have wheelchairs to provide for visitors.

Â鶹´«Ã½ shares information about commemoration in April. The May 4 Visitors Center will share links to event schedules on our website and social media.

Pets are not permitted in university buildings. There are three types of animals permitted in public places on campus:

• Service animals- dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.
• Service animals in training
• Assistance animals- emotional support animals.

Handlers found to be falsely characterizing their animal as an assistance animal may be subject to discipline in accordance with other applicable university policies.

If you have a personal story about May 4, 1970, or its aftermath, you would like to have it recorded and archived, to schedule an oral history recording session, submit your own audio recording, or upload a written version of your account.

Yes! Take as many photos and videos as you like, but please no flash. Due to copyright, the film in Gallery 2 cannot be recorded. Use of tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks are not permitted without previous permission from Visitor Center staff.

Children of all ages are welcome in the May 4 Visitors Center. Children under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult. Certain images in the galleries, and the film in Gallery 2, contain graphic images and viewer discretion is advised.
