The Balancing Work and Caregiving: Management of the Sandwich Generation workshop will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, from noon-1 p.m. in the Kent Student Center, Room 310AB. The seminar will provide you with an understanding of the roles and issues centered on caregiving to help facilitate better communication with your loved ones. Stress management strategies will be presented for balancing work, caregiving and other life responsibilities. Â鶹´«Ă˝ student and Medina resident Erin Hawley is the 2016 recipient of a $3,000 Ruby’s Rainbow scholarship. Ruby’s Rainbow grants scholarships to adults with Down syndrome who are seeking post-secondary education, enrichment or vocational classes. In the last five years, Ruby’s Rainbow has granted $290,000 in scholarship funds to more than 100 people, helping people with Down syndrome pursue their dreams of higher education and independence. The Peace Basket Project gears up for its 20th year. The Professional Women of Â鶹´«Ă˝ started the Peace Basket Project in 1997 when a group of members created baskets of “little things” to share with the residents served by the King Kennedy Community Center. While the Professional Women of Â鶹´«Ă˝ is no longer active, this annual event continues with the support of members of the Kent State community. Last year, more than 130 baskets were filled and shared with the community.
