Brendan, a business management major, had the opportunity to learn about a new culture through the Global Academic Ventures internship in Ireland in 2019. As part of his internship, Brendan worked with a digital marketing team to reach out to potential affiliates for partnerships.
“It was great being able to apply all of the knowledge I learned in the classroom during the last three years at Kent State and build real-world experience,” Brendan said.
Highlights of Brendan’s Ireland trip included attending a networking event at the Google Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Headquarters, visiting the Cliffs of Moher and making new friends and connections.
“The Irish community was incredibly welcoming and taught me so much about their culture, their customs and myself,” Brendan said. “I also became very close with all the people who lived in my building – we were basically like a family.”
Brendan credits the scholarships he received for the opportunity to study abroad. “The College of Business Administration’s study abroad scholarship covered almost half of the total cost for the program. Without the scholarship, I don’t think I would have been able to afford the trip,” he said.
