Theatre's Virtual Devotion opens Friday, Feb. 23

Runs Feb. 23 - March 4

Â鶹´«Ã½ at Stark Theatre presents Virtual Devotion by Eric Coble.

The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23, 24, March 2 and 3 and at 2 p.m. Feb. 25 and March 4 at the Kent State Stark Theatre. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided for the March 4 performance.

It’s the end of the world as we know it; pollution, terrorism and disease have taken over humanity. Three characters, Pete, Anne and Ruth – all members of a broken family – attempt to sell their faith to nonbelievers in various, and sometimes violent, ways, as a last-ditch effort to save souls, including their own. Through a series of ironic, laughable and most unfortunate events, all of the characters, including the returned Son of God, Jesus Christ, find one another on the Home Shopping Network selling religious artifacts. But now that they are finally together, is it too late to stop the ensuing Armageddon?

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $7 for non-Kent State students and senior citizens. All Kent State students are admitted free of charge with a current student ID. Tickets may be obtained beginning Monday, Feb. 12. Reserve tickets online at www.kent.edu/stark/theatre or call the Kent State Stark Theatre Box Office at 330-244-3348.

Virtual Devotion is directed by Kent State Stark Associate Professor of Theatre and Theatre Director Brian Newberg. Louis Williams is the scenic and lighting designer, Stephen Ostertag is the costume designer and Ron Jarvis is the sound designer.
