Young Professionals Conference Aug. 10 at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ at Stark

Daylong seminar aims to equip young professionals with skills needed for workplace success.

In an effort to better equip the region’s young professionals with skills needed for success in the workplace, ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ at Stark’s Corporate University is pleased to offer the 2018 Young Professionals Conference.

The daylong session will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 10 at Kent State Stark’s Conference Center, 6000 Frank Ave. NW.

The Corporate University developed the conference to meet the needs of the region’s employers and young professionals alike, said Faith Sheaffer-Polen, director of the Corporate University. β€œThis conference focuses on those areas where employers feel the biggest gaps are occurring – communication, social media and critical thinking,” she said. β€œThe conference presenters are professionals from multiple disciplines; they are experts in their field and have firsthand knowledge of the value of real-world experience.”

Presenters include: Emily Anderson, senior executive compensation analyst at The Timken Company; Nelson Canario, a consultant who delivers customized training programs worldwide to improve staff performance and increase engagement; Diane Helbig, an internationally recognized business and leadership development coach, author, speaker and radio show host; Philip Kim, D.Sc., educator, speaker and management consultant; Ned Parks, business coach and trainer; John Potkalitsky, retired from the Eaton Corporation after successfully deploying Lean Six Sigma; Faith Sheaffer-Polen, director of the Corporate University.  

The conference agenda includes the following session topics in which participants will learn: 

  • How to incorporate emotional intelligence to improve their performance in self-awareness, decision-making and work-life balance
  • The six steps to take for successful communication and how to apply those steps
  • How to solve problems quickly and effectively
  • The DiSC Assessment to improve professional communication and build stronger, more productive teams
  • Social media dos and don’ts
  • How to develop and demonstrate learning agility
