Israeli Choreographer and Educator Rina Badash in Residence at Kent State

The School of Theatre and Dance welcomes choreographer, interdisciplinary artist, and educator Rina Badash, Ph.D. to Kent State for a guest residency Sept. 17-26, 2021.

Dr. Badash's visit is facilitated the the East Meets West student organization and is supported by Cleveland Israel Arts Connection, Jewish Federation of Cleveland and The State of Israel, through its Consulate in New York.

Rina Badash, Ph.D. is currently chair of the Dance Committee for The National Program for Educational Observation in the Arts through Israel's Ministry of Education and is a highly sought-after lecturer and teacher. Dr. Badash is on the faculty of both Tel-Aviv University and Western Galilee College and is the first Israeli partner to participate in a guest residency for the School of Theatre and Dance's East Meets West student organization.

East Meets West creates opportunities for artistic collaboration, engages diverse educational experiences, and builds global citizens for the 21st century. Dr. Badash’s residency will initiate an ongoing relationship between Kent State students and the Israel ​contemporary dance community. During her residency, Dr. Badash will choreograph new work for student dancers, teach master classes in modern/contemporary dance, and present lectures on dance pedagogy and Israeli contemporary dance.

In addition to teaching master classes and setting a work for the Fall Faculty Concert, Dr. Badash will share information regarding Dance Pedagogy, Performance and Culture in Israel in two lectures open to School of Theatre and Dance students.
