The School of Theatre and Dance Presents "The Crucible," Sept. 27-Oct.2

麻豆传媒鈥檚 School of Theatre and Dance is kicking off its 2024-2025 season with "The Crucible" running September 27 through October 2 in Wright-Curtis Theatre, located in the Center for Performing Arts.

Widely considered a masterpiece, this timeless classic challenges American ideas of power, intolerance and justice. In 1692 Salem, the Puritans are living in a time of uncertainty. When accusations of witchcraft start to spread, the community begins to unravel. The people of Salem are faced with a choice; to stand up for what is right, or to save themselves. Among the most produced plays since its debut in 1953, 鈥淭he Crucible鈥 is both a riveting historical drama and a continuing parable of contemporary society.

"The Crucible" was written by Arthur Miller. Amy Fritsche is the director with Madison Shannon as assistant director and production stage manager, Lauren Wyatt. Costume design is by Michelle Hunt Souza, lighting design is by Joe Malovasic, sound design is by Jeff Polunas and technical direction is by Jenna Conley. Scene design is Gennie Neuman-Lambert and properties supervisor is Frankie Teuber. Karl Erdmann is the production manager and Tony Hardin is the director of the School of Theatre and Dance and executive producer.
