Terence Cranendonk was co-founder, performer, writer and director with Mustard Seed Theater Lab in New York City from 1986 to 1989. He then studied privately with the Polish Laboratory Theatre’s Ryszard Cieslak, during the last year of Cieslak’s life. From 1992 to 1999, Terence was a member of the New World Performance Laboratory, with whom he toured and performed throughout the world. From 1997 to 2015 he performed his solo piece, I Dreamed of Rats, in the United States, Europe, and South America. Terence has performed Off Broadway and regionally at venues such as the Kennedy Center, New York’s Public Theatre, Home for Contemporary Theatre, and Target Margin. He has directed original, devised work as well as contemporary and classic scripts, most recently Don't You Weep, devised with Debora Totti. Terence’s artistic work is informed by his creative research into Physical Action and Energetic Flow, which explores the intersections between the work of Stanislavski, Grotowski, Feldenkrais, and Wilhelm Reich. He has a BA in Theater from Yale University, an MA from the University of Akron, and an MFA from Â鶹´«Ã½. He is also a graduate of the Dell’Arte School of Physical Theatre. Terence attended work sessions and workshops with the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards in 1989, 2019, and 2021. He and his wife Debora Totti are currently Creative Collaborators with Richards and other former members of the Workcenter in their company Theatre No Theatre.
