After a lifetime of challenges, including more than 20 procedures and surgeries for a heart defect she had since birth, Kent State alumna Katherine Herrmann was determined to achieve her dreams. In May 2022, she graduated with her bachelor's degree followed by a life-saving heart transplant. She's now a graduate student in Kent State's clinical mental health counseling program.
