ABOUT
Wick Juniors offers opportunities for young writers, entering 3rd grade to 12th grade, to have a positive experience exercising their own capacities for self-expression.
We achieve this via a combination of a supportive community of peers, our passionate trained teaching artists, and our unique collaboration with the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park which helps us to offer active, hands-on experiences in the Park. Together these elements help your writers ask important questions about their place in the world.
Trained Wick Poetry Center Teaching Artists and CVNP Environmental Education Center staff facilitate the camp activities. Campers get to know each other and explore various aspects of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Campus on Wednesday. The next day they join us the Cuyahoga Valley National Park for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning. With the National Park as our laboratory and inspiration, we organize a variety of hands on activities paired with creative reflection. We are housed overnight Thursday-Sunday at the Environmental Education Center. We welcome friends and families to a culminating reading and celebration on Sunday morning.
