Dr. Shana Klein, assistant professor art history, and Marissa Tiroly, M.A. '21, co-curated an exhibition at the titled "Un-settling: A Story of Land Removal and Resistance." This exhibition is a visual accompaniment to the memories of yesterday and stories of today that parallel the words of Native American Poet Laureate Joy Harjo in her award-winning book and MassMu's 2022 NEA Big Read book selection, An American Sunrise. In celebration of An American Sunrise, contemporary Native American artists Norman Akers, Jesse Cooday, Gregg Deal, Dakota, Mace, Natani Notah, Hulleah Tsinhnahjinnie, Will Wilson, and Melanie Yazzie add their own reflections on removal and resistance to Harjo’s stories. The exhibition will be on view March 26 through May 22, 2022 in the Aultman Health Foundation Gallery.
