Dean Reynolds Portrait

Hello, I'm Dean Amy Reynolds, and I want to welcome you to the College of Communication and Information (CCI) at Â鶹´«Ã½.

CCI is the only college in the nation that offers degree programs from five distinct but interrelated fields of study – media, design, communication, information and digital technologies.

This unique alignment symbolizes Kent State and CCI’s innovative, focused and strategic vision that prepares our graduates for today’s world. Our inclusive, friendly and supportive environment, advanced curriculum and powerful experiential learning opportunities all combine to drive student success, while our highly-engaged faculty drive our industry forward with nationally-recognized research.

Whether you’re considering one of our undergraduate or graduate programs at Kent State, a current student or college alumnus/a of CCI or just exploring our college, I encourage you to browse through the distinctions below that truly make our college one-of-a-kind.

If you have questions, you can also email us anytime at cci@kent.edu. And, if you want to keep up with news from the college or our schools, you can follow us on social media.

Five Schools Make the Difference

The innovative schools that come together to form CCI’s degree programs include:

School of Communication Studies: Enhance your abilities in the skills employers say are the most in-demand: communication. Plus students with associate degrees can gain their bachelor's in as little as two years.

School of Emerging Media and Technology: Integrating STEM-based, cross-disciplinary learning with our modern curriculum, future technology professionals graduate ready for success in cutting-edge media and technological fields.

School of Media and Journalism: Discover the power of storytelling – the news story, the feature story, the multimedia story, the client's story and the short film – in our four majors that prepare you for our rapidly changing media industries.

School of Information (iSchool): Ranked in the Top 20 Library and Information Studies programs by U.S. News and World Report, we create leaders across a range of professional information fields.

School of Visual Communication Design: Nationally recognized for our work in typography and design, students learn how to effectively convey feeling, information and a message through their graphics.

Explore Different Paths

Our students arrive with a variety of cross-disciplinary interests and talents, and we don’t want to stand in their way.  We encourage CCI students to customize their degrees by adding on a minor, taking an online class, studying abroad, training in a foreign language or simply enrolling in a course outside of their program. Our curriculum is designed so that students can explore these pathways while still graduating on time.
