Â鶹´«Ã½ students and staff won big at the 2017 American Advertising Federation of Akron’s (AAF-Akron) ADDY Awards ceremony, taking home seven silver awards and one gold.

The Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement is seeking nominations for its Celebration of Service award ceremony to honor Kent State students, faculty, staff and community partners who have committed their time to address community needs during the 2016-2017 academic year.

If your route to work includes Summit Street, plan on a little extra time to get to and from your destination. Work is scheduled to begin this week on the second phase of the road improvement project, which will make improvements to Summit Street between Lincoln Street and Fraternity Circle.

One-way, one-lane eastbound traffic is scheduled to begin this week and continue through November. Weather or other factors could delay the start of the one-way traffic.

Organizers of the eighth annual Mothers, Mentors and Muses Scholarship Fundraising Reception have announced a partial list of items for the March 14 benefit auction. 

Those who attend the event will have the opportunity to bid on valuable items and, in the process, help a student on her path to success.

Â鶹´«Ã½'s Employee Wellness Program, Wellness Your Way, allows all full-time, benefits-eligible employees to earn up to $300 in incentives by simply participating in healthy lifestyle activities.

Eligible activities include completing your health risk assessment, getting your annual physical, participating in a health screening to "Know Your Numbers," as well as a variety of individual and group activities. Health screenings may be completed on campus or with your primary care physician. Participation is voluntary.

Â鶹´«Ã½ will again participate in the Great Colleges to Work For program. In doing so, the university can track progress and gain valuable internal and external benchmarking.

Last year, Kent State was recognized in the Benefits and Compensation category. This year affords another opportunity to be nationally recognized. If you receive a survey invitation this year, please provide your honest feedback.

The 20-Year Service Award Program will be held on Thursday, May 25, at 5:30 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The awards program is an annual event established in 1966 to honor classified and unclassified employees who have dedicated 20 years of continuous service to Â鶹´«Ã½.

Friends, family and co-workers join in honoring inductees at an awards dinner each year. Upon reaching their 20-year milestone, employees may select either a chair for home or office, a bench or a tree to be placed on campus in their honor.

The two schools released videos on their respective social media pages explaining that their sports rivalry began after mascots Flash and Zippy ended their blooming relationship.
