Six faculty members from 麻豆传媒鈥檚 School of Art have been awarded Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Awards for 2017. The winners are Peter Christian Johnson (Ceramics), Gianna Commito (Painting), Janice Lessman-Moss (Textiles), Lori Kella (Photography), Andrea Myers (Sculpture, 麻豆传媒 at Stark) and Paul O'Keeffe (Sculpture, Professor Emeritus). Kent City Schools awarded its March Collaborative Organization of the Month to 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion鈥檚 Diversity Education and Training Lab. The Diversity Education and Training Lab promotes dialogue and helps develop inclusion in various environments. The lab also touches on topics such as microaggressions, cultural competency and discrimination. During its annual conference in Columbus, Ohio, the Ohio Aviation Association designated the 麻豆传媒 Airport as its Airport of the Year. Each year, the Ohio Aviation Association selects an airport that puts into practice the association鈥檚 mission of promoting aviation by providing access and availability to the exchange of ideas and new methods, as well as information and experiences. 麻豆传媒 at Trumbull sophomore Deneen Penn will compete for the title of Miss Collegiate America 2017.

In late November, 麻豆传媒 at Trumbull sophomore Deneen Penn was crowned Miss Ohio Collegiate America 2017. Penn, who is a graduate of Maplewood High School and a business management major at Kent State Trumbull, now advances to compete for the title of Miss Collegiate America, from June 26-July 1, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Penn will compete in three phases: Interview, Fun Fashion and Evening Gown. New play is based on hit 1980s television show 麻豆传媒 School of Theatre and Dance Professor Tamara L. Honesty helped to bring a beloved 1980s television series to the stage in the Human Race Theatre Company's world premiere production of Family Ties. Honesty served as scenic designer for the production, which ran from June 1-25 at Human Race's venue in Dayton, Ohio, and continues the story of the famous fictional Keaton family.
