When he was a student at �鶹��ý, Preston Mitchum, BA ‘08, was heavily involved in student government and other organizations and recalls taking part in a considerable number of campus protests. 

Once again, �鶹��ý has been named one of the Best Employers for Women in a nationwide ranking by Forbes and marketing research firm Statista. Kent State has been named to the list for the sixth consecutive year, having been included each year since Forbes began publishing the Best Employers for Women list in 2018.

�鶹��ý graduate Erik Gomez, who earned his bachelor’s degree in political science in May, spoke at Spring Commencement about his journey as a first-generation Latino-American student.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, few disciplines have seen as many changes as psychology. In order to help students address these emerging challenges, �鶹��ý’s Department of Psychological Sciences is offering a slate of courses relevant to the changing trends impacting mental health today.

New research methods and topics have emerged as society has taken a greater interest in mental health issues specifically when it comes to cognitive psychology, which includes how we process music or how motivation fosters in the brain.

On Thursday, June 29, the U.S. Supreme Court, in a 6-3 ruling, struck down the long-standing policy of affirmative action in college admissions on the grounds it violates the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause. �鶹��ý Professor Christopher Banks, Ph.D., J.D., said the high court already had tipped its hand that the court was “positioned to jettison” the policy, so the ruling was not surprising. 

�鶹��ý observed Juneteenth this weekend with a Juneteenth Jubilee.
