Lauren Huffman was awarded Kent State Advisor Impact Award for the 1st quarter of 2025. Lauren joined the Honors College in 2017 and is currently the Coordinator II of Advising in the Honors College at Kent State. She coordinates honors advising, manages the honors DKS, serves as the staff mentor for Alpha Lambda Delta, and coordinates the Phi Beta Kappa Chapter.  Lauren’s positive outlook and ability to balance many different aspects of her job combine beautifully with her student advocacy and the kindness and respect she has for everyone.  Students really appreciate her holistic approach to advising, and her student-ready methodology.  Lauren works hard to make a positive difference every day for students and for her colleagues.

Kent State's Advisor Impact Award

The Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Advisor Impact Award is a quarterly recognition given to one outstanding academic advisor who has made a significant positive impact on the lives and academic success of their students. This award celebrates advisors who embody the KSU Advising Guiding Principles, including:

  • Helping students fulfill their educational goals and expand their knowledge while building meaningful, ongoing, and lasting relationships.
  • Serving as a student advocate and providing a sense of belonging.
  • Facilitating students’ holistic development academically, personally, and professionally.
  • Guiding students through university policies, procedures, and structure as a valuable resource.
  • Building a collaborative community that connects students with resources to help them achieve their desired success.
  • Being Student-Ready, taking an individualized perspective on each student.
  • Conducting themselves with professionalism, integrity, kindness, and respect.

Eligibility

All academic advisors at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ are eligible. Nominations for the award will be accepted from any academic advisor, administrator, or faculty member. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

How To Nominate

To nominate an advisor, please complete the  which includes:

  • Contact information for both the nominee and nominator.
  • Examples of key behaviors observed over the past 3 months.

Award Distribution

All nominees will be honored on the advising awards website. The winning advisor will receive:

  • One remote workday certificate (Certificate redemption will be at the discretion of the winner’s supervisor).
