Peer Advising Leaders
What is a PAL?
A Peer Advising Leader (PAL) is a Kent State student currently in their junior or senior year working in academic advising offices within various college advising offices on campus. Under the direct supervision of professional advisors, PALs use their knowledge, experience, and training to help guide incoming first-year students through their first semester/year.
What does a PAL do?
- Assist with academic-related outreach and projects.
- Assist students with using visual scheduler builder and GPS.
- Provide information on program requirements, curriculum, policies, and procedures. 
- Maintain awareness of: 
- Current course offerings  
- Major, academic, and general requirements 
- Campus and college deadlines 
- Serve as advocates. 
- Maintain accurate student records through KSUAdvising.  
- Serve as liaison between administration, personnel, faculty, students, and staff in resolving academic advising concerns or problems; referring students as needed. 
- Convey student concerns/issues to supervisor or other staff, as appropriate. 
- Participate and meet regularly with other peer advisors, make recommendations for improvements, discuss advising issues, and receive further training as necessary. 
- Assist undergraduates on major selection, scheduling classes, resources, and referrals.
