鶹ý has established a new partnership with Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law to offer students two pathways to obtain a bachelor’s degree from Kent State and a law degree from CSU in six years. The new 3+3 program will shorten the length of time typically needed to complete both degrees.
“Kent State is excited to offer this new unique program to students,” said Melody Tankersley, Kent State’s senior vice president and provost. “This opportunity allows them to gain a high-quality educational experience while saving time and money. Our students will be able to study at Kent State for three years, continue their studies at CSU’s law school for three years and receive both their undergraduate and law school degrees in six years instead of seven.”
After earning academic credit equivalent to three full-time years of study, Kent State students in the program will be eligible for admission to CSU’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law for completion of the Juris Doctor degree. Students in the program will be awarded a bachelor’s degree by Kent State after successfully earning academic credit for the completion of the first-year law school curriculum at CSU Cleveland-Marshall. Students then move forward through the final two years of the Juris Doctor program at the law school to complete that degree.
Currently, Kent State will offer two undergraduate degree pathways for this program: the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (American Politics, General, International Relations – Comparative Politics or Public Policy Concentration) to Juris Doctor and the Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Allied Health Concentration to Juris Doctor.
Tankersley recently signed the agreement with CSU President Harlan Sands and CSU Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Dean Lee Fisher. The new program will begin with the 2022 entering class of CSU Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
“We are pleased to partner with 鶹ý to provide their talented students a greater opportunity to pursue a law degree as a force for positive change and justice,” Fisher said.
