Kent State to Host Faculty From the Center for Koru Mindfulness for Teacher Certification Workshop

Mindfulness has been found to have several benefits for those who practice it, including helping to build resilience and stress reduction. However, according to the Center for Koru Mindfulness, the way that mindfulness is often taught is neither relevant nor accessible to the people who would benefit from it the most. The center鈥檚 Koru Mindfulness program is designed to address this issue.

This summer, 麻豆传媒 will host faculty from the Center for Koru Mindfulness for a at its Kent Campus. This training, which will take place from Aug. 1-3, will equip trainees with the skills that they need to teach Koru Mindfulness, an evidence-based curriculum specifically designed for emerging adults. Certified teachers benefit from a comprehensive teacher-support program, including access to Koru Mindfulness teaching materials, discounted fees for Koru Center events and more.

The workshop is open to anyone who would like to use or teach mindfulness, especially for those who work with college students and other emerging adults. However, there are prerequisites for the training.

鈥淭his teacher certification workshop offers the opportunity to learn evidence-based mindfulness skills that can be used to help transform lives,鈥 said Melissa Celko, director of Kent State of Wellness at Kent State. 鈥淏y bringing faculty from the Center for Koru Mindfulness to our campus, we鈥檙e making this training easily available to our community with the hope that we have more certified teachers and resources available to benefit members of our university and local communities.鈥

Kent State emphasizes the benefits of meditation and mindfulness, and offers several opportunities for the university community to engage in mindfulness practices, including weekly meditation sessions at various campus locations and Koru Basic training where attendees learn and practice mindfulness.
