First Home Football Game of 2016 Season Kicks Off Saturday

Come and Cheer on Your Golden Flashes This Saturday

After creating optimism in a hard fought battle at Penn State University, Â鶹´«Ã½ hosts its 2016 home opener Saturday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m. against North Carolina A&T State. With a Dix Stadium night crowd behind them, the Kent State Golden Flashes look to win their 14th consecutive game against a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponent. A fireworks display will follow the game.

Immediate Impact

Officiating History

On Saturday, Amanda Sauer will serve as head referee, becoming the first female in Dix Stadium history to serve in that role.

One Year Earlier

Almost one year to the day, during Kent State’s 2015 home opener, kicker April Goss became just the second female to record a point in Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) history.

Defensive Scores

Senior Elcee Refuge recovered a fumble and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown at Penn State, giving the Golden Flashes their fifth defensive touchdown in their last 12 games.
