The Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Trustees welcomed the Class of 2026 at the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held Sept. 21 at the Â鶹´«Ã½ Airport. Kent State’s freshman class began classes on the Kent Campus nearly 7% larger than the previous year with 4,251 students – the eighth largest incoming class in the university’s 112-year history.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Haley Dees of Lisbon, Ohio, to the Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Trustees as an undergraduate student trustee. Dees’ two-year term runs through May 16, 2024.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Christian Palich of Plain City, Ohio, to the Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Trustees. Palich will serve through May 16, 2031. Palich earned his bachelor’s degree in political science in 2009 from Kent State.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Trustees approved the establishment and registration of a Community Benefit Company in Rwanda, Africa, during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held May 25. Kent State has realized an immediate need to establish a private limited company, designated as a not-for-profit Community Benefit Company, that can serve as a strategic starting point for engaging in the African continent’s expanding higher education market.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the Bachelor of Social Work degree during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held March 8. The new degree was developed based on the high demand for licensed social workers within the areas surrounding Kent State’s Regional Campuses. The program will be offered on the Ashtabula, Salem and Tuscarawas campuses.
