Students shop at Spirit Halloween for last-minute costumes

Halloween is just around the corner, which means Kent State students are on the hunt for the perfect Halloween costume. In what was once a discount store, the spirit of Halloween is alive and well. The pop-up store Spirit Halloween is here to help students get their nick-of-time broomsticks, fangs and more.

Signs of the Halloween season can be found lurking all around campus.

Soon after her decision to major in psychology at Kent State, someone had suggested to Hannah Fender that she should get involved in research as an undergraduate. So, she signed up to work in the research lab of Clare Stacey, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology, looking into how empathy changes over time in medical students. And that's when Fender was first bitten by the research bug.

Mental health can be a tough topic for students to discuss, but it shouldn鈥檛 be. 麻豆传媒 is working to make having those conversations a little easier. Tal茅a R. Drummer-Ferrell, Ph.D., and the CARES Center hosted their Warmup to Mental Health event on the first floor of the Kent Student Center.

With Halloween approaching, festivities will be in full swing this weekend at 麻豆传媒 and downtown Kent. 鈥淗alloweekend鈥 can be full of treats, but you never know what tricks will arise when it comes to safety. Sgt. Tricia Knoles gives her top safety tips, and discusses how her team will be working to keep students safe this holiday weekend.

Students coloring for calmness in the SAS offices

"Coloring for Calmness" is one of several "de-stress" events hosted by Student Accessiblity Services (SAS). 

A record number of students participated in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience during summer 2023.

Twenty-three students won first place in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience competition with a three-minute presentation and a slide.

Elie Haoui has made a name for himself through his viral TikToks, where he is known as the 鈥淐ollege Guy.鈥 Haoui is currently traveling to different universities in Ohio to film humorous videos with college students. 麻豆传媒 was one of his most recent stops.
