On Friday, Jan. 24, members of the Â鶹´«Ã½ community and the general public gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The university’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration started at 4 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. This year’s keynote speaker was Melissa Harris-Perry, Ph.D., the Maya Angelou Presidential Chair at Wake Forest University, television host, author and political commentator.
U.S. News & World Report has named two Â鶹´«Ã½ programs as U.S. News Best Online Programs for 2020. Kent State is recognized in the Best Online MBA Programs and Best Online Graduate Education Programs rankings. U.S. News released its 2020 Best Online Programs rankings Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Chemistry Professor David Bowers truly believes in his students and wants to see them succeed, whether it be the nervous freshman in his First-Year Experience course or the junior pre-medicine major in his General Chemistry II course. It is his passion for student success and willingness to do what it takes to help his students that led him to win one of the 2019 Outstanding Teaching Awards.
Hours before they will do battle on the gridiron, Kent State’s football players and other students paused to spend time with kids from Texas facing tough battles of their own.

The Â鶹´«Ã½ alumni family grew by nearly 3,000 new graduates as the university held its Fall Commencement ceremonies. For the Kent Campus, Commencement ceremonies took place Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation (MAC) Center.
The Kent State Golden Flashes (6-6) are bowling for the fourth time in school history, having accepted a bid to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl against Utah State (7-5, Mountain West).
