Special Tour: Long Live the Spirit of Jackson State

460 shots in 30 seconds! You may have noticed a banner bearing the words 'Long Live the Spirit of Kent and Jackson State' during the May 4 commemoration, but do you really know what happened at Jackson State? This special director-led tour of the May 4 Visitors Center will focus on the experiences of Black college students, from Black United Students and Kent State Council on Human Affairs sit-in at the Corner Bar, to the shootings at Orangeburg and Jackson State.

Lantern Making Workshop

Art can be a positive healing experience, allowing reflection, encouraging discussion, and bringing people together. Join the May 4 Visitors Center for a vigil lantern making workshop led by Jennifer Schwartz, Assistant Professor of Art Therapy at Ursuline College. Customize a lantern, conveying your own message of peace and remembrance, to use during the May 4 Vigil on Saturday evening. This event is a drop-in experience but supplies are limited and available on a first come first serve basis.

Earth Fest

Celebrate Earth Day! Join 30+ on and off campus organizations and departments for a fun-filled Earth Day event with music, student activities, information, giveaways, and prize drawings. The purpose of this event is to: 1) increase students’ awareness of sustainability on and off campus 2) engage students in educational activities and 3) inspire students’ actions in the sustainability movement. All sustainability-related organizations are encouraged to participate including those with a focus on prosperity (economy), people (social), or planet (environment).

Earth Month

Celebrate Earth Month at Âé¶ą´«Ă˝ throughout the month of April! Check out over 40 events on the Kent campus hosted by various departments and organizations including volunteer opportunities, presentations, clean-ups, webinars, adventure trips, rain barrel painting, thrift swap, Donuts with the Director, plant sale, Fix-It Kent, Kent State Haymakers' Farmers Market, ESDRI Research Showcase, and Earth Fest.

Supportive Upbringing for Parents and Caregivers

The Child Development Center offers the Nurturing Families Program, a free, seven-week virtual course designed for parents and caregivers of children aged birth to five. This program focuses on enhancing parenting skills, stress management, and fostering healthy parent-child relationships.
