Megan Brattley, an Honors College senior graduating this spring 2025, was recruited by Â鶹´«Ã½ as a softball player from the small town of Fleetwood, Pennsylvania. For two years, she played her heart out on Kent State’s softball team as both a catcher and utility player, taking a break this year to focus on her academic goals, with sights set on a career in oncology. It’s not every day that someone gets to celebrate the 100th birthday of their hero, but for Â鶹´«Ã½ graduate student Mason St. Clair, it happened.On Oct. 1, he was in Plains, Georgia, attending the 100th birthday bash of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and shared details of his experience with Kent State Today. Carter, a Democrat who served one term from 1977-1981, is the only American president to live to age 100. St. Clair graduated from Kent State in May with a bachelor’s degree in integrated social studies in the College of Education, Health and Human Services....
Fatih Cetinkaya, Ph.D., a guest professor from Duzce University in Turkey, visited Kent State and discussed his research on culturally diverse themes in children's picture books in libraries, focusing on their appropriateness for young readers. Cetinkaya came to campus through the Aggarwal-Blackburn Visiting Scholars Program, named after Pushpa V. Aggarwal and Minta L. Blackburn, housed in the Gerald H. Maria E. Iafelice is an innovative educator and creative leader with over 10 years’ experience in museums and the non-profit sector. Dedicated to making art accessible, she joined the Toledo Museum of Art’s Education & Engagement team in 2015, where she currently oversees youth and family programs and community initiatives including the annual Block Party event and Circle, TMA’s affinity group dedicated to inclusive and innovative programming.

Gerald (Jerry) Casale majored in Art at Â鶹´«Ã½ focusing on fine/performing arts and fashion-related studies.
Nelson Stevens earned his M.F.A. in Studio Art and Art History from Â鶹´«Ã½ in 1969. He also has a B.F.A. in Painting and Art Education from Ohio University. He later became one of the first members of AfriCOBRA, a Chicago-based African American art movement that sought to empower the black community through aesthetics. Stevens’ work uses bold colors and often pays homage to prevalent figures in black history.
