Spring 2023

Message from the Dean

Dear Friends,

The new year and the new semester brought new exciting opportunities for our College, and today I am pleased to share them with you.

Starting March 2023, the College of Public Health will lead the Greater Cleveland LGBTQ+ Community Needs Assessment, a groundbreaking inter-organizational initiative that aims to identify and address the most pressing needs of the LGBTQ+ community in Greater Cleveland. I am deeply grateful to Andrew M. Snyder, principal investigator for the Greater Cleveland LGBTQ+ Community Needs Assessment and CPH program outreach director, and to the Cleveland Foundation for its support of this important initiative that will involve over 100 community organizations.

The College of Public Health has always been deeply committed to responding to the needs of our community, employers and students. For this reason, I am happy to announce that starting next Fall semester our academic offer will be enriched with two new graduate certificates, LGBTQ+ Public Health and Clinical Research. In addition, CPH became part of a collaborative effort to train new Community Health Workers (CHW) and better address the public health needs of our local underserved communities.

In this issue of the Pulse on Public Health, you will get to know CPH professor and associate dean for Research and Global Affairs, Dr. Jeffrey Hallam, and learn more about all the extraordinary achievements of our faculty and alumni.

I hope you enjoy catching up with our latest news. To stay always connected with events, updates and resources from the College, follow our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) and please make sure to join our brand new CPH .

I am beyond grateful for your support of the College. I am proud to be part of this exceptional community and I want to thank you for all you do to advance public health.

Yours in good health,

Sonia Alemagno

Dean, College of Public Health
