Summer 2022
Message from the Dean
Dear Friends,
As we celebrate the start of the Fall semester and a new academic year at Â鶹´«Ã½, I want to take a moment to welcome those of you who are first-time College of Public Health students, whether you are in person or remote, as well as to welcome back all of our returning students, faculty and staff. I also applaud our alumni’s efforts for being constantly engaged with our CPH community, despite the unique challenges of the past few years. I am beyond grateful for all your support and generosity.
This academic year, the College of Public Health welcomed nearly 55 new, first-time, full-time freshmen students. The college added 19 new BSPH graduates, 25 MPH graduates and 2 MS graduates and 5 PhD graduates to its alumni ranks of over 2300 graduates. Congratulations on your great achievements!
In this issue of the e-newsletter, you will read about one milestone project led by CPH outreach program director, Andrew M. Snyder: the Greater Akron LGBTQ+ Community Needs Assessment, whose results were presented last August during a launch event at the Akron Art Museum. You will also get acquainted with our faculty and staff members, and learn about our remarkable students’ and alumni’s accomplishments.
I look forward to hearing from you and to hopefully seeing you on campus during Homecoming week. To be more connected to resources, events and updates from the college, follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and please make sure to join our brand new CPH LinkedIn page.
It is truly a privilege and an honor for me to work closely with you and I wish you a safe and successful semester.
Yours in good health,
Sonia Alemagno
Dean, College of Public Health
