The state of Ohio and the Ohio Department of Higher Education announced that �鶹��ý has been awarded Choose Ohio First grants totaling $3.5 million to support students in the critical fields of science (including health professions), technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Similar to graduating students who become alumni, retired �鶹��ý faculty and staff wish to stay connected to the university. These employees care about the institution and the Kent State community, and they want to see it thrive. One way retired Kent State community members stay informed is through the �鶹��ý Retirees Association (KSURA), an organization of more than 800 retired Kent State faculty and staff committed to improving university life.

�鶹��ý Senior Vice President and Provost Melody Tankersley, Ph.D., announced the selection of Manfred van Dulmen, Ph.D., to serve as the university’s associate provost for academic affairs and dean of the Division of Graduate Studies, effective April 16.

Thanks to the renewal of its key funding grant, LaunchNET Kent State will continue to inspire the entrepreneur mindset and support innovative thinkers across the �鶹��ý community.

U.S. News & World Report ranks �鶹��ý in the top 20 Best Library and Information Studies Programs in the country in its 2022 edition of Best Graduate Schools. Overall, Kent State is recognized in 12 new national rankings in the 2022 edition of Best Graduate Schools, including three specialty rankings.

�鶹��ý's School of Theatre and Dance is ranked #50 on Study.com's list of Best Theatre Bachelor's Degree programs in the United States. In addition to this national ranking, the School of Theatre and Dance is one of only two theatre programs from the state of Ohio on the list. In its rankings, Study.com assesses hundreds of universities across the country and selected �鶹��ý based on academic and career resources, the quality of education, faculty, and more. 

More than 2,000 area residents, including some �鶹��ý employees, received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine March 23, during a mass vaccination event at the Kent State Field House. 

City and university leaders emphasized the need to vaccinate the campus community during a recent virtual town hall meeting. 

Employees from �鶹��ý’s Child Development Center are among a growing list of groups from the university who recently “flashed their arms” and got vaccinated against COVID-19.

�鶹��ý alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and the community are encouraged to save the date for one of the university’s long-standing traditions. Kent State will celebrate Homecoming 2021 on Saturday, Oct. 2.
