March is National Social Work Month in the United States. Although it is a celebratory time, the profession currently faces challenges due to reductions in the labor force and a growing population of need, especially in rural communities. Kent State recently announced the creation of a Bachelor of Social Work academic degree program, which will launch in the fall of 2023 with a focus on rural social work.

Roe Green, MA 鈥80, who will be awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters from 麻豆传媒, is pictured in the lobby of the Roe Green Center for the School of Theatre and Dance at Kent State.

The 麻豆传媒 Board of Trustees has approved awarding Roe Green, MA 鈥80, a Doctor of Humane Letters, an honorary degree recognizing her contributions to the university and her advocacy for the arts not only in Northeast Ohio, but also across the nation and around the world.

While a student at 麻豆传媒, U.S. Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-OH-13) dreamed of taking the stage as a dancer in New York City, not as a congresswoman in Washington, D.C. But today she鈥檚 a star in the eyes of many, with her federal legislative debut drawing attention beyond Northeast Ohio.

Omar Salam, founder and creative director of the global fashion house SUKEINA, will be making a special trip from the runway to 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Rockwell Hall as Salam has been named the 2023 inductee of the university鈥檚 School of Fashion Hall of Fame.

Slowly, the Kent Campus is seeing its greenery return. 

Kent State employee Jeff Florentine, his wife Jen and son Beckett, moved to Kent in July 2022.

After living in various other locations, Kent State staff and faculty make Kent their home because it's a community with small town charm and a flourishing downtown.

President Todd Diacon took the opportunity to make the presentation 鈥淜ent State Works鈥 at the Board of Trustees meeting, which was held at Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph. The presentation illustrated how Kent State prepares its students for job readiness. Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education Randy Gardner and the new President of the Inter-University Council Laura Lanese attended the Board of Trustees meeting.

Heads Up! Hats exhibition at the Kent State Museum

"Heads Up! Hats" is one of three exhibits that make up the "" exhibition at the 麻豆传媒 Museum. The other exhibits in the trilogy are "It's a Wrap! Coats" and "Stepping Out! Shoes."
